CRAWFORD COUNTY DETENTION CENTER, VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS

The existing jail is certified to house 88 inmates and is located in Downtown Van Buren across the street from the existing Sheriff’s Office and Jail Intake office. The County selected a property close to the interstate where a new Jail and Sheriff’s Office could be constructed. This facility will include a courtroom to be used for first appearances to minimize the movement of inmates to the Courthouse. 

The facility is designed to allow for future expansion in both the housing area and Sheriff’s Office. The 63,600 SF facility, housing 306 inmates, has a budget of $18.4 million and was completed in 2016.
