Robertson County, in response to overcrowding and substantial community growth, expanded the existing county jail. The county retained our team to utilize our planning/design Work Session process to develop a custom design and detailed budget to define the project clearly. The proposal was an 84,000 square foot, 388 bed addition (600+ beds total) consisting of offices, administrative areas, detention housing, multi-purpose / classrooms, kitchen, laundry, storage rooms, vehicle sally port, parking, security fencing and security gates, and furniture and fixtures for a fully operational county jail.

The facility is located on the site of the existing County Jail and Sheriff’s Office on Brown Street in Springfield, Robertson County, Tennessee. The existing jail received a limited amount of demolition and renovation. The project consisted of two distinct areas, jail housing with kitchen and laundry areas, and jail intake areas with jail administration and medical. The facility was constructed in two phases.

The jail housing (phase one) includes kitchen, laundry and inmate housing areas. The main inmate housing area, located north of the existing facility is a two story building with a mezzanine at each floor. This area holds the inmate cells, dayrooms and control area for the guards.

The jail intake (phase two) includes jail administration suite, intake, inmate visitation, and medical suite.
